As I type I am sitting in the lobby of a San Francisco hotel waiting for my ride to the airport. I have been in The United States for a total of twenty five days. It has been a journey that we made up as we went along. In doing so we have visited four states, two major cities (and a number of minor ones), five national parks and a number of national forests / state parks. It is going to take me some time to process everything I have seen.

When I left home I thought I would have time to write and had vague plans of working on a longer series. For some reason as I sank into cruise boat life my mind switched off from regular life things including writing. A while back I set myself the task of trying to consolidate and finish a few projects. It hasn’t worked out that well. I have so many bits and pieces kicking around that compiling it has proven to be difficult. ADD tendencies don’t help. Having zero routine doesn’t help.

Today, as we packed up our suitcases and returned our camper my mind is starting to turn to regular life. Over the last few days as our trip wound down my mind has been turning to regular life. I have had some thoughts about what to write and ideas about posts. It has reassured me that I can still make words.

One of the things that I was a little unprepared for was the number of human beings that I would encounter in America. When one goes on a hike in Australia you can be assured that you will have the trail to yourself for at least some of the time. In this country it seems that wherever you go it is almost guaranteed that at least someone will be there to share it with you. This made taking travelling boob photos a little challenging. We did get a few in though.

I am about to embark on a fourteen hour flight. I hope I get some sleep and write some more words.
